Grapes on the Vine

I'm drawn to South West Michigan. I take motorcycle rides up there while looking for something to photograph. The backroads are full of wineries and you can follow the Michigan Wine Trail to find many of them. My favorite time of the year to ride through the countryside is at the end of summer and beginning of fall. The colors are starting to turn, the grapes from the vineyards are ripe and ready, and if you get there at the right time you can smell the wonderful aroma of concord grapes.

This image was taken at one of the local wineries, Round Barn Winery in early September. It was a beautiful morning, the light was falling on the grapes in a wonderful way to make them stand out and be surrounded by the shadows of the other bunches on the vine. It's always exciting to find an image that just pops! The black and white tones and texture make this a simply stunning piece of art, "Grapes on the vine", and when it's printed on metal it almost jumps off the wall.
